SELFCHECK has been providing a wide range of health-screening blood and urine tests for over a decade, and are known for their exceptional customer service. The SELFCHECK range, including their new urine pregnancy test, is assembled at their laboratories based at the OpTIC Technology Centre in North Wales, where the company is also developing new diagnostics for the early diagnosis of sepsis in intensive care units and hospital wards.
Each SELFCHECK Urine Pregnancy Test kit contains two mid-stream urine devices, that are simple to use and give a clear result in less than 5 minutes. When compared with laboratory tests that measure hCG in urine, the SELFCHECK test was found to give greater than 99% agreement with a cut-off of 25mIU/mL. The test can be used from the first day of a missed period, but as the levels of hCG rise very rapidly during the early stages of pregnancy, a second test is included to be used a few days later to confirm a negative result.
